Boulder Junction Wedding on Ice

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

When you’re planning a wedding for March in Wisconsin, you never know what the weather is going to be like.  You could experience a blizzard, some rain, or a sunny 40-degree day like Sara and Adam experienced for their outdoor wedding on the ice of Upper Gresham Lake.

A beautiful day that says “Spring is on its way!” tied with the emotions of a wedding is very moving.  I could see many guests smiling as they watched Sara walk to the lake on her Grandfather’s arm…some reminiscing their own weddings while others simply enjoyed the moment.  As Adam took her hand, a few snowmobiles drove by to check out the crowd, probably expecting to see a trophy fish being pulled out of the lake instead of the wedding ceremony.  But being snowmobile lovers themselves, Adam and Sara smiled as it made their day all the more perfect!

Sara and Adam enjoy hunting so the wedding cake table was decorated with some great hunting memorabilia, including these two dolls dressed in hunting gear.  They were perched in their own tree stands in some evergreens.

Minocqua Wedding Photography - Scott and Mikii

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Scott and Mikii had an amazing wedding in Minocqua and Woodruff, Wisconsin. Mikii is a mural artist in Madison, Wisconsin, and she paints absolutely beautiful murals. If you want to see her in action, watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition this Sunday October, 12th at 7pm on ABC. She painted the Anders-Beatty home in Richland Center, WI for the show, with Scott as her assistant.

It is always an honor when another artist asks me to photograph their wedding, so I am very excited to show the photos from Scott and Mikii’s special day!

We started off enjoying coffee at the salon:

Scott and Mikii decided to take some photos before the ceremony, and the church had the perfect remote pathway and gazebo to get some great photos of the two of them alone.

We then walked back to the church to join the family for a few more photos. This is the ring bearer’s pillow, and the little man himself:

The church was gorgeous - and the altar was made from wood that was pulled up from the bottom of Lake Superior, preserved by the cold water.

After the ceremony we moved on to Dillman’s Resort, which is also known as a great northwoods artist retreat. I loved the pink Cadillac Scott and Mikii drove there:

We took the pontoon boat out for a ride. Mikii is a great boat captain. And not only can she drive a boat, but she can also fly planes too!

Everyone had fun at the dinner!

We did sneak away for a couple of sunset photos:

…and then returned for the first dance:

I had so much fun spending the day with Scott and Mikii…thank you for allowing me to photograph your wedding!

I will leave you with one last picture, of the tiniest wedding guest on two legs, who kept following me around just fascinated with my camera:

Cheers!

Minocqua Wedding Photography - Kellie and John

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I love northwoods weddings! Kellie and John had a beautiful wedding in the Hazelhurst - Minocqua area. Even with the threat of rain showers, we ended up with some wonderful photos - just look at their smiles!

I couldn’t stop laughing at John and his friends - it was hard to hold the camera still to get a sharp photo!

The reception was held at Kellie’s parents amazing home on Tomahawk Lake. The rain cleared just in time for dinner!

We had a really fun time cutting the cake.

John was certainly not shy in front of the camera!

After the rain cleared and revealed blue skies, we walked down to the dock for some evening photos. Of course John threatened to toss Kellie in the lake, but we all knew he wouldn’t dare!
