I’ve seen many outdoor weddings get lucky with the weather, but none like Megan and Phil’s wedding at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. A storm blew in just as we were finishing up the pre-wedding photos at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. Then it stopped just in time for the ceremony, allowing them to still hold it outdoors. The sun and blue skies appeared just in time for Megan to arrive by train, and bald eagles were soaring overhead. And just as all the guests were heading indoors for the reception, the rain and thunder returned. If it had to rain that day, it couldn’t have had more perfect timing!

Joe and Amanda’s wedding in Manitowoc was incredibly touching. The novel Emma, by Jane Austin, is a story about the perils of misconstrued romance, originally published in 1815. It also happens to be Amanda’s favorite book. So when Joe gave Amanda an original printed copy of the book as a wedding gift, he not only showed how well he knows Amanda, he also set the bar very high for all future birthday and Christmas presents!

Liz and Joe enjoyed a beautiful Japanese-theme wedding at the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan. They raced to fold almost 1000 paper cranes for the wedding – certainly not an easy task! And the day was full of surprises for everyone: Guests had to write a Haiku to get Liz and Joe to kiss at the reception…and many of us got Rickrolled by our fortune cookies! Very funny, you two!

A refreshing northwoods wedding is all it takes to give the wedding season a great start. Alex and Mary Lee tied the knot at Dillman’s Bay Resort in Lac du Flambeau – a retreat that is always beautiful no matter the time of year or the weather. My arrival brought tears to Mary Lee’s eyes, and when I later visited Alex, his biggest concern was, “How is she? Is she holding it together?”. They do know each other well!
